Calema nominated for the 2023 NRJ Music Awards in France

Calema nomeados para NRJ Awards

The musical duo is nominated for the 2023 NRJ Music Awards by the French radio station NRJ in the category of “French Revelation of the Year

Fradique and António Mendes Ferreira, better known as Calema, are delighted with the nomination and shared the good news with their fans on their social media: “It’s a great honor to be nominated for the 2023 NRJ Music Awards, which will take place in Cannes on November 10th. We are nominated in the ‘Révélation Francophone de l’Année’ category. We need your support, so please vote on NRJ.fr or using the NRJ app, and with a bit of luck, we hope to be in Cannes very soon.”

Voting is only open to residents of France with a French mobile number and can be done through the NRJ website.

Why a French nomination?

Remember that the brothers were born in São Tomé and Príncipe but lived in France, where they participated in The Voice France.

Although they didn’t make it past the blind auditions, as no chairs turned for them, they later won the top prize in the “Luso artist” competition in Strasbourg and recorded their first album, “Bomu Kêlê.” It was at that time that they returned to Portugal, taking advantage of a scholarship to study in Évora, and doors began to open for them until today.

Calema’s connection to France is strong, with frequent concerts throughout the country and occasional media invitations. Therefore, this nomination naturally places them in the French music scene.
