What a fantastic week for Kate Bush!

Her iconic song “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” is climbing the charts again after a prominent synch in Stranger Things.

Originally written in 1985 for her Hounds of Love album, the song was her second most successful behind “Wuthering Heights” for which Kate Bush made history by being the first woman to claim a UK No. 1 for a self-written song. “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” was popular in the UK at the time, bagging the No. 3 spot and rave reviews. AllMusic wrote: “Always adept at emotion and beautifully able to manipulate even the most bitter of hearts, rarely has Bush penned such a brutally truthful, painfully sensual song.“;

Since being featured in Stranger Things, the song’s popularity has gone stratospheric. It made significant waves on TikTok which has translated into massive streams and downloads – it was Spotify’s most streamed song globally this week, hit No. 1 on the iTunes downloads charts and is currently in the Top 10 on the Billboard 100 (her first US top 10 hit!).

Not only that, but the 37-year-old song’s renewed popularity has led to increased interest in the rest of her catalogue, her other hits are receiving more streams on Spotify and The Whole Story has re-entered the Top 100 Album Chart in the UK. Kate Bush said of the song’s meteoric rise that the series has given it “a whole new lease of life” and thanked everyone for giving it their support.

We couldn’t be more excited or proud to represent Kate’s incredible back catalogue. This week’s Gem is a playlist of Kate Bush classics, please enjoy!
