Matias Damásio


Matias Domingos Damásio was born in Benguela (Angola) on May 9th 1982. He later left for Luanda, where he learned to play the guitar on the streets.
He participated in several talent contests, namely: “Estrelas do Palco” and “Domingão” of Coca-Cola.
In 2003, he wins the “Gala Sexta Feira”, the Luanda Song Festival and the Variante Contest.
In 2008, he released his second CD of originals entitled “Amor e Festa na Lixeira”, a tribute to the neighbourhood where he was born and lived in the middle of his youth, located on the outskirts of the city of Benguela.
This album was a huge success, with over 20 thousand copies sold, achieving a Gold Award in 2009.
The success in Portugal started in 2016 with the hugely acclaimed album “Por Amor” that spawned millions of streams and views, with the smash-hit single “Loucos” feat. Heber Marques and was further fueled by other hits such as “I wanna be your hero” and “Matemática do Amor”. Later on, in 2017, his tour helped to consolidate his success, with more than 40 concerts throughout the country.
Matias Damásio continues to release successful songs that are already part of the national Portuguese cultural songbook.
