Calema

Calema are two brothers, Fradique and António Mendes Ferreira, born in São Tomé and Príncipe, but currently living in Portugal, where they produce their music and have enjoyed great success.
The two artists were influenced by Brazilian music, and with the help of some encouragement from their parents, they started singing together very early on. They came to Portugal to continue their studies – one specialised in Multimedia, the other in Video – but music never left them. They used Youtube to publish their first covers, and later, in 2011, they headed to France, where they gave their first live concerts.
Two albums have already been released – the first entitled “Bomu Kêlê” (which means “Let’s Believe”, (sung in Creole and Portuguese) ; the second was the hit “ANV” , the song “A Nossa Vez”, which already has over 65 million views on Youtube.
Calema are composers, lyricists and interpreters of their songs. They have already recorded themes with African and Brazilian artists, such as Rapaz 100 Juiz and Kataleya. In 2022 they recorded their latest song with Brazilian artist Zé Filipe, “Onde Anda”, “Frágil” with the Anjos brothers, and “Gostu Sabi” with Soraia Ramos, Gil Semedo and Mito Kaskas.
