D.A.M.A

D.A.M.A (abbreviation for the expression “Deixa-me Aclarar-te a Mente Amigo,” stylized as D.Δ.M.A or DAMA) is a pop band originating from Lisbon, Portugal. The band was officially formed in 2008 and achieved success in 2013/14, establishing itself as one of the most successful pop music projects in Portugal in the 2010s. The members include Francisco Maria Pereira, better known as Kasha, Miguel Coimbra, and Miguel Cristovinho.
Francisco Maria Pereira and Miguel Coimbra, friends since the age of six and schoolmates, began writing verse compositions during Portuguese classes, creating a healthy competition between them. In 2008, they combined their rhymes with instrumental music, forming the band D.A.M.A, initially composed of the two and their friend Filipa (Pipa). The first concert was at the São João de Brito College in Lisbon, followed by performances in nightclubs. In 2011, they invited Miguel Cristovinho to join as a composer, and the band gained prominence.
With academic backgrounds in law and management, Francisco Maria Pereira, Miguel Coimbra, and Miguel Cristovinho dedicated themselves fully to music with the success of the band. In 2013, they had significant concerts, and in 2014, they signed with Sony Music, releasing the album “Uma Questão de Princípio,” which achieved success and received a double platinum certification.
The album includes collaborations with artists such as Salvador Seixas, Mia Rose, and Gabi Luthai. The band received various awards, participated in events like Rock in Rio, and was nominated for the Golden Globes and MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2015, they were the most listened-to band on Spotify in Portugal. The second album, “Dá-me Um Segundo,” released in 2015, also achieved success and received a platinum certification.
The band continued its trajectory with more releases, awards, and participation in events up to the present, including the album “Lado a Lado” released in 2017 and the project “Acorda o Sonho” in 2017.
